Crow banked to his left with Robin closed behind. Vole was huffing as he tried to catch up. As they got closer to worm's discovery, Crow could see what looked like a large hollow in an even larger oak. The birds and Worm landed in the grass near the tree. A short time later, Vole caught up bearly able to speak for his shortness of breath. "What did you see?"
"Just this nest," replied Crow with obious disapointment in his voice. "We're trusting Worm on this one."
Worm poked his head from Crow's beak. "I think you could use some fresh mint in your diet, Crow."
Crow laughed ... but not too hard.
It was quickly decided that Vole would be the best candidate to approach the gaping hole in the tree. He began to move cautiously toward the opening. Vole disappeared in the bottom of the opening, while the others waited some distance back.
It was a long time before Vole poked his head back out of the Oak. He was muttering something that the others could not quite make out. As he approached they could make out the muttering, "Very interesting, very interesting ...."
